EASTER & SUMMER HOLIDAY BEACH CAMPS

RVB is excited to offer its 2017 Easter & Summer Beach Volleyball Camps for children 10-18 years old to be held Broom Road Recreation Ground, next to Teddington School (Richmond).

The camps are open to all abilities (boys and girls) coached by highly qualified volleyball coaches. Each camp site will feature a variety of activities including volleyball skills and tournaments.

Discounts are available for multiple children.

Weekly School Beach Volleyball Coaching & Tournaments
(4-a-side) by Richmond Volleyball Club


Richmond Beach Volleyball holiday camps provide boys and girls aged 10-17 with a professional volleyball learning experience 


· Tuesday or Thursday 3.345pm to 5pm (Boys) Yr 7 to Yr 10
· Teachers are encouraged to play as well!!

Schools will be accepted on first come - first served basis (max 10 teams).


Richmond Beach Volleyball Satellite programme started in winter 2014 located at Teddington (Broom Rd, Recreational Ground).
 
RVB runs a number of satellite sessions (Mondays ‘Girls’ & Tuesdays ‘Boys’ ) for young people aimed at players who have some basic volleyball skills. The sessions are designed to further enhance and develop young player’s serving, passing, setting, blocking and hitting, and improve overall understanding of the game.
 
The fun & structured technical training & matches will allow young players to progress quickly to compete not only in their school team but also to RVB JR teams that compete in the South London  Junior Beach Leagues (local/county standard) and RVB Regional and National Junior beach performance teams. Beginners are also welcome at the sessions, but will need to show commitment to training and learning. These sessions will run during term time only.

Schools that plan to bring a large group or if you wish to drop students off, you must let us know in advance. Dress Code: Suitable PE kit (and maybe sand socks). Thank you!

Interested in joining the Schools League?

A round-robin tournament with 3-to-4 schools bringing 2-to-3 teams each (full mini-bus) from 3.30 pm to 5pm.
Wednesday’s (Girls Fixtures)
Thursday’s (Boys Fixtures) 

4-a-side matches with results uploaded to a League Table.
Top 5 teams will be invited to the Finals to be held in July and compete for the County Schools Final.
Teams are enrolled on a first come first serve basis and team submission will commence each Friday afternoon ahead of the following weeks tournament.

For kids who love to mess about in the woods.
Does your child love playing outdoors and getting back to nature? If so, our Wild Play Days are just the thing. Based out of YMCA Hawker, we visit a different location each day to explore woods, build shelters, discover nature, create woodland art and breathe Mother Nature’s good stuff. If your treasured one loves jumping in puddles, climbing trees and is naturally curious, then this is the camp for them.
They won’t come back clean, but they’ll come back happy!

Open Canoe Family Adventure Days - Offsite
 Join Albany Park on the River Thames for a real adventure afloat and experience one of our supervised river journeys using open canoes. Senior staff will lead your day and will be on hand to coach and advice.

This course will be suitable for those family members taking to the water for the first time and for those with more experience. Your lead coach for the day will start by teaching you the beginnings of boat handling and from there, your journey begins.

The first adventure starts at Albany Park travelling via Teddington Lock to Eel Pie Island/Twickenham Embankment, lunch and back to Albany Park to finish.

The second trip is one way, starting from Hampton Court Bridge and finishing at Albany Park Centre. Paddle Power Start certificates for young people and certificates for all family members who completed the journey back to Albany Park will be awarded. This trip is open to all ages, 8 years and up and is a fantastic way to spend the day exploring the river Thames with new friends.

RYA Sailing Week  

The Absolute Beginners Course is for ages 8 – 10 years only and is specifically for those who are new to the sport,
working towards RYA Stage 1 using the Optimist Dinghies.

The Novice Course for ages 9 plus is for those with limited or no sailing experience working towards achieving RYA Stage 1, using the Laser Pico Dinghies.

The Improver Course for ages 10 plus is designed for sailors who have successfully achieved RYA Stage 1 using a Pico, improving their skills and
progressing towards RYA Stage 2, using the Laser Pico Dinghies.

The Advanced Course for ages 10 plus is for sailors who have successfully achieved RYA Stage 2 and are aspiring to achieve RYA Stage 3, using a mixture of Pico, Topper

Vibes and Topper Sport 16 crewed dinghies. Also working towards RYA Stage 4.

Participants who have achieved RYA Stage 1 in an Optimist will need to attend a Novice course before progressing to Improver.

Multi Activity Day / Week

Promoting better boating skills and awareness in a variety of activities, on and off the water. Have great fun getting to grips with activities including Kayaking, Open Canoeing, Bell Boating, Dragon Boating, Raft Building and Problem
Solving Exercises.
There will also be the opportunity to get stuck into our team challenge course which has proved a great hit with many groups of young people.
We aim to provide two activities for participants visiting on a daily basis.
There are four Multi Activity Weeks running as well as single days. Ideal for beginners aged 8 – 16 years.

Wet and Wild Week
For ages 8 years plus. Our Wet and Wild week is exactly as it sounds but extremely wet and very wild! Try out lots of
different activities including Kayaking, Open Canoeing, Bell Boating, Raft Building and Dragon Boating, then take part
in mini competitions, problem solving, treasure hunts and a regatta. A barbeque will be provided for all participants on
the last day. Suitable for beginners.

Canoeing and Kayaking Weeks - BCU Awards
The Beginners course for ages 8 years plus, is for those with little or no previous experience in Canoeing or Kayaking, or who have not gained any of the BCU star test personal qualifications or a Paddlepower Passport.

The Improvers course for ages 10 years plus, is for those who have some experience in Canoeing or Kayaking and have achieved at least BCU 1 Star or Paddlepower Passport. The course will focus on developing paddling techniques and skills and progress towards the next level award of Paddlepower Discovery, which is equivalent to the previous BCU 2 Star course. We will use some of the more specialist equipment and boats under the direct supervision of one of the senior staff. Please note participants must be minimum aged 10 and have the required BCU achievements; experience of basic strokes or participation in a multi activity course is not sufficient to attend an Improvers course

Climbing & Archery taster days– off site
(meeting at Kingsnympton Youth Centre for registration and collection)
This day is suitable for those young people with no previous experience aged 10-16 only. The session will be held at Kingsnympton Youth Centre, led by a qualified climbing wall instructor and archery qualified instructors working with small groups. You will be taken through our set up and safety precautions before you begin the activity. Coaching will involve introduction to the equipment. The climbing sessions will help you getting to grips with our indoor climbing wall which is the perfect venue for your introduction to climbing. During the archery session you will learn about target practice, with coaching tips to improve your accuracy and consistency. The session will progress with games and competitions to finish.

Archery Taster half day – off site

Off-Road Cycling (Mountain Biking) 2 Day Course
This course will provide an opportunity to sample off–road cycling and trail riding using one of our fleet of specialized or trek mountain bikes. Concentrating on bike handling skills and a brief look at bike maintenance and set up. Transport to and from venues provided along with cycle helmet and bike. We will ride some of Surrey’s top venues (examples below).

Please note that due to minibus guidelines and the sizes of the bikes these courses are limited to young people between the ages of 12 and 16 only and with a minimum inside leg measurement 26”/660mm.

Examples of the venues we may visit

Box Hill (Surrey Hills)
This venue will involve some real “Mountain Biking”! Each rider will learn about hill climbing and descending skills on wide bridleway tracks.
Leith Hill (Surrey Hills)
Each rider will be able to put their riding skills into practice. Enjoy lunchtime with a fantastic view and a fun and speedy descent through the forest.
Ranmore Common – Newlands Corner (Surrey Hills)
Riding along a ridge with the option to drop down towards Shere or Abinger Hammer.

All the riding venues have been checked and ridden recently by our fully trained and experienced Mountain Bike leaders, who will be running each of the day’s activities.

RYA Powerboat Level 1
Level 1 - This one day course will cover the basic powerboat handling techniques including launch and recovery and safety whilst afloat. Suitable for beginners age 10–16 only. This is an ideal way to introduce young people to power boating in a safe controlled environment with instructor/student ratios max 1:3.

Level 2 – Two day course working towards the RYA National Powerboat Certificate, using our wide range of powerboats. You will carry out both high and low speed manoeuvres at our river location and local reservoir. Your award will be in endorsed in both planing and displacement craft. Open to ages 10–16 only

Bookings - Please ensure that you book your child/ren onto the correct course for their age and ability, this will avoid inevitable difficulty and disruption caused to their group by participants booked onto an inappropriate course.
 
All participants require a completed Parental/Guardian Medical/Consent form before they will be able to participate in any activities.

This form can be found at the end of this document or by visiting the website www.albanypark.co.uk  and select ‘find out about our holiday activities’ then select ‘download consent form’. Please bring your completed consent form with you on the first day of your course.

Do not post any consent forms to the Centre. Thank you.
 
A £10 course amendment fee is charged for any changes made after a booking has been completed. This fee applies to cancellations, refunds and any change of course details, including participant name. Please check details clearly and co-ordinate with friends/commitments before booking
 

Please note all participants must be aged 8 minimum, no 7 year olds accepted

 

What to bring with you:

completed medical and consent form.  See document below.

food and drink for breaks and lunch (a soft drinks machine is available at the centre)

soft soled shoes or trainers to wear in the water (compulsory)

two sets of old clothing to wear in the water (e.g. t-shirts, sweatshirts, shorts or tracksuit bottoms and old trainers – not jeans)

spare warm top

towel

wash kit

dry clothes and shoes to wear home after the activities

waterproof jacket (we can supply if you do not have one)

peak cap / hat

waterproof sun cream (compulsory)
