Note From The Editor

Hello again and welcome to Sport England's latest club and volunteer newsletter.

I am sure you are all still savouring the amazing events of London 2012. There is no doubt the Olympics and Paralympics gave sport an unprecedented profile and,in this first newsletter after their completion, Sport England is asking for your club's help with an important survey which will help measure the overall impact of the Games. Click here to take part and read more in our news section below.

Elsewhere, Clubmark has played its part in trying to maintain the sporting momentum created by the Olympics and Paralympics.

In the build-up, we supported the ‘Join In Local Sport' and the ‘BBC Things to do' projects and,in the aftermath, we reminded all those with renewed interest that an accredited club is the best place for to start a sporting journey.

We're also delighted to report that three of the young people involved in lighting the Olympic cauldron are members of Clubmark accredited clubs.

The trio were sprinter Desiree Henry (16) who trains with Enfield and Haringey AC; Aidan Reynolds (18), a javelin thrower at the Telford club, and middle-distance runner Adelle Tracey (19) from Guilford and Godalming AC.

They were part of a seven strong group nominated by former Olympic legends including Daley Thompson CBE, Dame Kelly Holmes and Duncan Goodhew MBE. Read the full article here.

We hope they all enjoy a successful sporting future supported by their clubs.

This month we have begun working with British Universities and Colleges Sport (BUCS) to pilot Clubmark for the higher education sector. Work is also continuing on the new and improved range of support and educational resources for volunteers involved in community sport and activity.

To be the first to know when the new programme is ready you can add your email address to the list here - www.clubmark.org.uk/volunteer-support

Remember we would really love to receive your Clubmark and accreditation related pictures to use as a cover photo on our official Facebook page.

Please keep these coming to mail@clubmark.org.uk
